The Local Area Llanrhaeadr is a typical Welsh village on the border of two counties, marking the division between Mid and North Wales. In this tranquil village with its beautiful surroundings pretty stone cottages follow the contours of the valley - a perfect setting for those who want to "get away from it all". It is no wonder that they filmed "The Englishman who went up a hill but came down a mountain" here starring Hugh Grant. It was in Llanrhaeadr, whilst he was at St. Dogfan's Church, that Bishop Morgan translated the bible into Welsh in 1588.

For the more energetic amongst us Llanrhaeadr is an ideal location for abseiling, canoeing, climbing, horse riding, paragliding, quad biking, walking, white water rafting ... to name but a few. And if you have time after all these, you can hire a bike and cycle around Lake Vyrnwy.
